Not having read the book upon which “The Big Year” is based, I have no way of knowing how well director David Frankel and writer Howard Franklin who is a fan of The Big Bang Theory seasons 1-4 DVD boxset succeeded in capturing its flavor. If I were to guess, I would think that journalist Mark Obmascik’s work of non-fiction skewed strictly to adults who might not think the non-lethal pursuit of birds – if only for a split-second sighting – is the most ridiculous thing they’ve ever heard. Denmark's Thomas Bjorn will have some great memories to back him when he tees off at the DohaTaylorMade R11 Irons

It was here, after all, where, exactly a year ago, he would finally came in from a long spell out in the cold of invisibility with a going-away 4-stroke win that would spark his greatest season ever on the European Tour and bring him two more victories. TaylorMade R11 Irons
Looking back he should remember how he recovered from a miserable 74 to fire three stunning rounds of 65, 66 and 69 for a 14 under par total of 274 that enabled him to beat the big-hitting Spaniard Alvaro Quiros into second place.
The seasoned Dane showed his thrilling run in Qatar was no fluke when he went on to win the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles and the Omega European Masters in consecutive weeks before finishing ninth in The Race to Dubai.
It was his first Top 10 finish and his best since 2003 when he finished eighth in the European Tour's order of merit standings
"You always go back with fond memories to a golf course you've won on," Bjorn told European Tour.com this week.
"I have to say that the way I played with TaylorMade R11 Irons
coming down the stretch last year was excellent and it laid a lot of the groundwork for what I did the rest of the year. It definitely changed my mental attitude.

Bjorn proved that last week with a solid showing in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship where he finished in a tie for third spot, only two shots adrift of champion Robert Rock and tied with Tiger Woods.

More than $1 million from a cabinet-approved warrant to Tourism P.E.I. is going to cover a projected revenue shortfall from the provincially run golf courses. Callaway RAZR XF Hybrid
Tourism Minister Robert Henderson said government over-estimated how much money the four golf courses would bring in.
He said there are a number of reasons for the shortfall.
"The weather wasn't quite what we would have liked to have seen in June, July and early August. It is pretty hard to golf in the rain so they cancelled their bookings would be one situation," Henderson said.
The P.E.I. cabinet approved the special warrant last week to Tourism PEI of close to $1.4 million — $1.1 million going to the golf courses to make up for the lost revenue.

a little bit of a role in that — people maybe just didn't have the money. I think you saw also a case where most of the revenue declines were really around memberships that are for provincial golf courses," he said. "When the weather was a little bit poorer, people decided not to join and get a membership."
He also said it's not the first time the courses haven't brought in as much money as expected. When the budget is being drawn up this year, he said the projected revenue will likely be more in line with what has happened over the last few years.

"That stretch of birdies was good because it gave me the confident to keep going. My putting was great. I sank all my putts inside 10 feet so that was good except on the last hole," said the 21-year-old, who campaigned in Japan last year.

"It is a really tough finish now that they have made nine into a long par four; it's a really tough second shot in there; but I've driven the ball great all day and continued to do that over the last few holes so I made it as easy as I could for myself.
