Hank Haney has hit back at his former pupil Tiger Woods' suggestion that his decision to write a book about him is "unprofessional".
Haney, who spent a very successful six years from 2004 to 2010 working alongside Tiger as his Nike Victory Red Pro STR8-FIT Tour Drivercoach, is set to release a book called 'The Big Miss: My Years Coaching Tiger Woods' in April of this year, and Woods did not mince his words when he was asked what he thought about it.
"I think it's unprofessional and very disappointing," Woods said, "especially because it's someone I worked with and trusted as a friend.
"There have been other one-sided books about me and I think people understand that this book is about money. I'm not going to waste my time reading it.( Nike Victory Red Pro STR8-FIT Tour Driver)
"I just think this book is very self-serving."
Haney, speaking to Ed Sherman of Chicagobusiness.com, said the book was merely an attempt to explain what it is like to coach someone like Tiger.
"I feel like it is a fair and honest book," said Haney. "I know he said it is "unprofessional." I don't know how you can make a comment like that without reading the book. I think I had an opportunity to write an unprofessional book, but I don't think I did. I feel like I wrote a fair and honest book."( Nike Victory Red Pro STR8-FIT Tour Driver)
When Sherman asked if Woods should be worried about anything in the book, however, Haney replied: "Maybe. The truth is the truth. There are quite a few things in there that people will find as surprises. I just wrote a fair and honest book. I said all along this wasn't going to be a takedown book. People that know me know that's not what I would do."
